Severe thunderstorms and hail threaten Chicago, Central Illinois, and Texas Hill Country.

Thunderstorms are expected to hit parts of the Chicago area on Wednesday afternoon and continue through Thursday morning, with heavy rain and large hail possible. The National Weather Service predicts that the biggest threat for hail will likely stay in areas south of Chicago and parts of northwest Indiana. Some of the storms could be strong, with a marginal risk of severe weather in parts of northern and central Illinois, as well as northwest Indiana. Overnight storms into Thursday morning could be much more widespread, with some severe storms potentially forming as the bulk of the moisture swings through the area.
