Severe thunderstorms threaten Denver with hail, tornadoes and lightning.

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs on Sunday due to possible rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches with stronger storms. Pinpoint Weather Alert Day has been issued for Sunday afternoon with some storms becoming strong to severe with large hail up to 2" in diameter and damaging wind gusts. The southeast side of the metro and southeastern Colorado are at the highest risk. Highs on Sunday will be below average, only reaching mid to upper 60s. Another active storm pattern is expected on Monday afternoon before a warmer and drier trend by the end of the work week.
