Spring Floods Expected to Hit Minnesota and Northland Regions.

Minnesota is at risk of major flooding due to historic levels of snow on the ground, with the snow water equivalent in river basins throughout the state unusually high. The delay of the thaw is keeping much of the snowpack on the ground, causing concern for potential flooding. The Red River Valley has seen an increase in flood potential, while the Mississippi River from the Twin Cities and south is unlikely to hit 2001 levels. St. Paul has a 50 percent chance of major flooding, which is down slightly in the last couple of weeks.
