Thanksgiving Week Weather: Snow Potential and Arctic Blast

A major weather pattern change is expected just before Thanksgiving in Michigan, bringing much colder air and the possibility of accumulating lake-effect snow. The southwest corner of Lower Michigan, northwest Lower Michigan, and the northern part of the Upper Peninsula are likely to see snowfall. However, there shouldn't be any weather-related travel issues for eastern Lower Michigan. Temperatures will turn quite cold, and the early estimate suggests a one to four-inch snowfall from Wednesday afternoon to Thanksgiving morning. It will be the first snow-on-some-roads type of snow, so drivers in the snowbelts are advised to consider traveling earlier.
