Tornado Devastates Upstate NY: Fatalities, Power Outages, and Extensive Damage

Severe storms and tornadoes have struck western and central New York, causing significant damage in Canandaigua, Rome, and Virgil. Canandaigua experienced an EF-0 tornado with 75 mph winds, while Rome suffered extensive damage from a severe thunderstorm, leading to power outages for over 20,700 customers. The National Weather Service is investigating whether a tornado also touched down in Rome. A state of emergency and curfew have been declared in Rome, and several buildings, including churches, have been heavily damaged.
