Ancient Meteorite Arrowhead Unearthed Near European Lake

A Bronze Age arrowhead discovered in Switzerland has been found to be made from meteorite iron, according to a study by researchers at the Natural History Museum of Bern. Dating back to 900-800 BC, the 3,000-year-old artifact was crafted from iron originating from a meteorite that landed in Estonia, suggesting the trade of meteoritic iron in Europe by 800 BC or earlier. This finding is significant as it is rare to find evidence of early use of meteoritic iron. The arrowhead's discovery confirms Mörigen as the third site in central and western Europe where such artifacts have been found.
