"Hubble's Discovery: Unveiling Extreme Weather on an Alien Exoplanet"

Using data from NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, astronomers have observed atmospheric variability on the exoplanet WASP-121 b, also known as Tylos, located 880 light-years from Earth. The planet's extreme conditions, including its close proximity to its host star and tidally locked rotation, make it a unique subject for study. By analyzing multiple observations over three years and using computer simulations, the team found evidence of weather patterns such as massive cyclones and temperature variations, shedding light on the complexity of exoplanet atmospheres. This study represents a significant step forward in understanding the time-varying weather on ultra-hot exoplanets and has been accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal Supplement journal.
