"Insights from Earth-Sized Virtual Telescope: Observing Nearby Black Hole's Energetic Jets"
The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) has focused its latest observations on the black hole region 3C 84, located in the galaxy NGC 1275, which is part of the Perseus cluster. Despite not being able to resolve the horizon glow of the black hole, the EHT can see the bright region surrounding it, where intense magnetic fields are present. By capturing the polarization of radio light from the area, astronomers can study the magnetic fields and investigate how supermassive black holes generate powerful jets. The study suggests that the release of magnetic energy through realignment could power the formation of ionized jets, providing insight into the mechanisms behind these phenomena.
