NASA Discovers New 'Super-Earth' in Nearby Solar System

NASA has discovered a new "super-Earth," designated as TOI-715 b, in a nearby solar system's habitable zone, only 137 light-years from Earth. Orbiting a red dwarf star, the planet is about one and a half times wider than Earth and has a 19-day "year." Another potentially habitable planet was also found in the same system. Led by scientists at the University of Birmingham, the findings were published in the "Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society." Super-Earths are more massive than Earth but lighter than ice giants and can have various compositions, potentially including habitable conditions.
