"NASA's Plan to Defend Earth from Apocalyptic Asteroids"

A new study led by astronomer Paul Wiegert has determined that there is "zero chance" of the infamous asteroid Apophis colliding with another asteroid and redirecting its path towards Earth. Despite its initial classification as a potential threat, astronomers have since tracked Apophis and confirmed that it will safely miss Earth during its upcoming close passes in 2029 and 2036. The study evaluated the possibility of Apophis colliding with another asteroid and concluded that such an event is not anticipated. While the closest passages between known asteroids and Apophis will be monitored for situational awareness, the overall risk of a collision is deemed to be extremely low.
