Rare celestial event: Moon, Venus, Mars, and Gemini stars align in Tuesday evening sky.

The moon and Venus will make a close approach in the sky on May 23, with the waxing crescent moon passing 2⁰ 12' to the north of the planet. The Virtual Telescope Project will host a telescope livestream of the conjunction beginning at 4 p.m. EDT. Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system, with a surface temperature of around 900 degrees Fahrenheit and a crushing pressure 90 times greater than that experienced at the surface of Earth.
