"Rare Eclipse: Asteroid to Block Giant Star Betelgeuse"

Betelgeuse, one of the largest and brightest stars in the night sky, will experience a momentary eclipse as an asteroid passes in front of it. This rare phenomenon will be visible in a narrow path from Tajikistan to Mexico and will be observed by scientists for the first time. Betelgeuse is a red supergiant located about 700 light-years away from Earth, while the asteroid, named Leona, is found in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
