The source of the burst remains unknown, leaving astronomers puzzled. While the afterglow of the burst appeared normal, the researchers suspect that the burst may be the result of gravitational lensing, where the signal is stretched and duplicated by massive objects like black holes or galaxies. Further study and the detection of similar gamma-ray mirages are needed to confirm this hypothesis.
