Introducing the Persian Gold Tarantula: A Stunning New Species for Tarantula Enthusiasts
Scientists have discovered a new species of tarantula in northwestern Iran called the Persian Gold Tarantula (Chaetopelma persianum). This fancy-pants arachnid has glorious locks of woolly, golden hairs. The discovery was made when a nature enthusiast spotted a wandering male tarantula and sent a photo to Dr. Alireza Zamani, who asked for more specimens. Unfortunately, only one female specimen was collected, but photos of two other males were obtained. This new species expands the distribution of the Chaetopelma genus in Iran and is the third known species of tarantula in the country. Further investigations and collection efforts in unexplored regions could lead to the discovery of additional species.
