Bronze Age hunters transform ancient meteorite into arrowhead

A 3,000-year-old arrowhead discovered in Switzerland has been found to be made from a meteorite that crashed to Earth 3,500 years ago, according to a study. The analysis revealed the presence of aluminum-26 isotopes, iron, and nickel alloy consistent with meteorites. The arrowhead also showed grind marks from shaping and traces of tar used to attach it to the arrow's shaft. Further study revealed that the artifact likely came from the Kaalijarv meteorite site in Estonia, suggesting that it was traded during the Bronze Age. Meteoritic arrowheads are extremely rare, with only 55 known objects found across 22 sites in Eurasia and Africa.
