Northern Lights Set to Illuminate Multiple U.S. States This Week

A powerful solar storm could bring the Northern Lights to parts of Illinois and Indiana this week, with potential visibility in areas near Milwaukee and Minneapolis, and on the far northern horizon in areas as far south as Chicago and Indianapolis. The peak of the spectacle is expected on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning, with a Kp of 6, indicating a geomagnetic storm. To get the best view, residents are advised to find an area away from city lights between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. and allow their eyes to adjust to the darkness.
