NASA Detects Ring-Shaped Sunspot, Raising Solar Storm Fears for Earth

NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory has detected an unusual ring-shaped sunspot group that has grown more than ten times in the last 24 hours, posing a threat for Earth-directed solar flares. The sunspot group fulfills both criteria for explosion, and there is a chance that a severe solar storm can strike the Earth, causing major damage to our planet, including disrupting GPS, hampering mobile networks and the internet, and even causing a massive power outage by corrupting the power grids.
