Solar Storm Warning: Massive CMEs from Magnetic Filament Explosions to Hit Earth in 2 Days

A massive magnetic filament explosion on the Sun has hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) cloud towards Earth, with early predictions indicating that the resultant solar storm could be dangerous. The CME is expected to reach Earth on April 24th, with G1 to G2-class geomagnetic storms possible when it arrives. Solar activity is at an all-time high as the Sun nears the peak of its 11-year solar cycle, with the potential for powerful solar storms to damage infrastructure such as satellites, mobile networks, internet services, power grids, and sensitive ground-based electronics.
