UK Scientists Set to Construct Unprecedentedly Bright Laser

British scientists are set to build the world's most powerful laser, the Vulcan 20-20, in Oxfordshire. The laser, costing £85 million, will be 20 times more powerful than the current dominant laser and is expected to accelerate advancements in nuclear fusion, renewable energy, and batteries. It may also provide insights into astrophysical phenomena and be used for potential cancer treatments. The construction will take six years to complete at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Central Laser Facility in Harwell.
