Unlikely Victor: Cockroach Defeats Hydraulic Press
TL;DR
A video shows a cockroach surviving being weighed down by a hydraulic press exerting a force 900 times its body weight. This experiment helps researchers learn about building insect-sized robots that can perform tasks such as locating people in rubble after natural disasters or performing surgery. Cockroaches are resilient insects that can cause health problems and spread germs, but their abilities are being studied for potential applications in robotics.
