Crows Redefine Clever: Faces, Tools and Social Smarts

New research shows crows and ravens are highly intelligent: they plan ahead, solve new problems, use tools, can distinguish and remember individual humans by facial structure for years, and maintain complex social systems with emotions and conflict-resolution rituals. Their adaptability across forests, cities and farms highlights resilience, though habitat loss still threatens some species, like the Hawaiian crow which went extinct in the wild.
