Astrobotic's lunar lander, Peregrine, will burn up in Earth's atmosphere after a failed moonshot due to a fuel leak that forced the company to abandon its attempt to make the first U.S. lunar landing in over 50 years. The company is working with NASA to track the lander's path and ensure it poses no safety risk during reentry. The lander carried NASA-funded experiments, a rover from Carnegie Mellon University, and the ashes and DNA of about 70 individuals, including "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry and author Arthur C. Clarke.
