From the Battlefield to Outer Space: A Marine Cobra Pilot's Journey to Commanding a Space Mission

Marine Lt. Col. Jasmin "Jaws" Moghbeli, a former Cobra pilot and test pilot for the Marines, is set to command NASA's SpaceX Crew-7 mission to the International Space Station. Moghbeli, who was selected for NASA's astronaut training program in 2017, will conduct experiments in the station's microgravity laboratory. She expressed excitement about the life-changing perspective of seeing Earth from space and plans to swab the outside of the space station to collect potential evidence of microorganisms surviving in space. Moghbeli will be accompanied by two stuffed dragons, representing her twin daughters, on the six-month mission.
