Ingenuity Helicopter Sets Multiple Flight Records on Mars

NASA's Mars helicopter, Ingenuity, has broken two new records by flying at 14.5 miles per hour and reaching an altitude of 52.5 feet. The helicopter has flown 49 flights and has been on Mars since February 2021. Ingenuity is currently conducting an operations demonstration phase to explore how future rovers and aerial explorers can work together. The records set by Ingenuity are allowing developers to advance future helicopter design, including the development of sample recovery helicopters and a six-motored helicopter to access previously inaccessible parts of Mars.
