Iran Turns to Russia for Help in Developing Spy Satellite

Iran is seeking Russian assistance to build a new Khayyam remote-sensing satellite, as well as a small geostationary satellite and a telecommunications satellite. Russia's space industry, which has suffered a loss of business due to the country's invasion of Ukraine, is looking for new customers and partners, including Iran and North Korea. Iran also plans to develop and launch new satellites, including a constellation of 10 small satellites called the General Soleimani Satellite System. However, Iran is currently only capable of sending small satellites to low Earth orbit.
