NASA's Ambitious Plan: 3D-Printed Moon Homes by 2040

NASA is aiming to have 3D-printed homes on the moon by 2040, to be occupied by both astronauts and civilians. The plan involves using a 3D printer to construct structures using lunar concrete made from moon surface materials. NASA has partnered with ICON, a construction company experienced in 3D printing, for the project. The system will be tested for lunar conditions next February. NASA is also working on a simulation of lunar concrete and collaborating with universities and private companies for household items. The first step is the Artemis 2 mission in 2023, followed by a return to the lunar surface in 2025 or 2026.
