Russia's Luna-25 Moon Lander Set for August 11 Liftoff

Russia's Luna-25 moon lander has arrived at its launch site, the Vostochny Cosmodrome, for its scheduled liftoff on August 11. The spacecraft, built by NPO Lavochkina, aims to be the first in the world to perform a soft landing in the south pole region of the moon and conduct contact studies of the lunar soil for the presence of ice. Luna-25 will utilize the latest Russian space instrumentation and technologies to explore the challenging terrain of the circumpolar region. The mission is part of Russia's efforts to resume lunar exploration, following the success of Luna-24 in 1976.
