NASA's Moon Mission: Challenges and Beyond

NASA's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has released its annual report, identifying the top challenges facing the space agency. These challenges include the planned return of humans to the moon through the Artemis Program, the retirement of the International Space Station (ISS), outdated infrastructure and facilities, cultivating a diverse and skilled workforce, improving management of major programs and projects, maturing information technology management and security, and better oversight of grants and cooperative agreements. The report highlights the need for NASA to address cost growth, schedule delays, technical issues, and fiscal sustainability in order to successfully overcome these challenges.
