SpaceX Completes NASA's Groundbreaking Laser Communications Network

SpaceX is set to launch the final piece of NASA's two-way laser communication relay system, the ILLUMA-T terminal, to the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the CRS-29 resupply mission. Once attached to the space station's exterior, the terminal will transmit data through the Laser Communications Relay Demonstration (LCRD) satellite, enabling higher data rates and the potential for larger, high-definition photos and videos in future space missions. Laser communication technology offers smaller, lighter components and greater data transmission capabilities compared to traditional radio communication systems.
