NASA's Ingenuity helicopter, which made history with the first powered flight on Mars, suffered a hard landing on Jan. 18, resulting in the breakage of at least one rotor blade and ultimately ending its flying days. New observations by the Perseverance rover reveal that one of Ingenuity's four rotor blades snapped clean off during the landing. Despite this setback, Ingenuity's successful flights have paved the way for future aerial exploration on other planets.
