"Northern Lights Illuminate Skies Across the U.S."

Sightings of the aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights, were reported across the West and Midwest of the United States as a geomagnetic storm intensified. The phenomenon produced vibrant colors, including red or purple pillars and green and purple blotches, illuminating the night sky. Social media users shared images and reported sightings from Montana to Missouri, Indiana to Oklahoma, and the upper Midwest. The Space Weather Prediction Center warned of "strong" geomagnetic activity, indicating that the aurora may be visible as far south as Pennsylvania to Iowa to Oregon.
