Rocket Lab successfully launched the first of two NASA cubesats for the PREFIRE mission, which aims to study heat loss from Earth's polar regions to improve climate models. The Electron rocket lifted off from New Zealand, deploying the satellite into orbit 53 minutes later. The second PREFIRE satellite will be launched within three weeks.
