Palestinian Diplomat Advocates for Extended Israel-Hamas Cease-fire

Palestinian Foreign Affairs Minister Riad al-Malki is urging for an extension of the Israel-Hamas cease-fire, stating that a resumption of Israel's military campaign would result in more civilian deaths. Al-Malki argues that the concentration of the population in the south of Gaza would lead to a higher number of casualties. The 4-day cease-fire, set to expire, was extended for two days. Israel has made it clear that the pause is temporary and that they will continue the war until all hostages are released, Hamas is eliminated, and there is no new threat to Israel from Gaza.
