Russia-North Korea Arms-for-Food Deal Raises Concerns in US

North Korea is reportedly seeking to trade its weapons for food supplies from Russia, according to US security officials. The alleged arms deal may be coordinated by a Slovakian arms dealer, Ashot Mkrtychev. The National Security Council warns that any arms deal between North Korea and Russia would violate a series of UN Security Council resolutions and could lead to an international incident. North Korea recently revealed new, smaller nuclear warheads, called Hwasan-31s, which could potentially be placed on intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of reaching American shores.
