Tensions between Kosovo and Serbia jeopardize EU integration, warns Germany

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has warned that the tensions between Kosovo and Serbia are jeopardizing the potential accession of Western Balkan nations to the European Union. Baerbock emphasized the importance of security and safety in the region and called for an accelerated EU accession process. The Berlin Process, initiated by Germany and France, aims to encourage the Western Balkan nations to become EU members. Baerbock also announced that the NATO-led peacekeeping force, KFOR, will be reinforced in Kosovo. Kosovo's foreign minister called for fresh sanctions on Serbia, while Baerbock and the commander of KFOR urged both countries to return to the negotiating table.
