US Implements New Sanctions on Hamas and Iran's Revolutionary Guard

The US has imposed a second round of sanctions on Hamas, targeting a Hamas official in Iran, members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and a Gaza-based entity that facilitated illicit Iranian funds to Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The sanctions aim to degrade Hamas's ability to carry out terrorist attacks and exploit the international financial system. The US Treasury also criticized some firms in the digital asset space for not doing enough to prevent illicit finance. Israel has conducted airstrikes in response to a recent attack by Hamas, while the Hamas-controlled Gaza health ministry claims that over 7,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's retaliatory strikes. The US military has also carried out strikes against facilities in Syria used by Iran's Revolutionary Guards and its backed groups.
