Iran Seizes Multiple Oil Tankers in the Gulf Strait, US Navy Reports

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy seized a second oil tanker, the Panama-flagged Niovi, in the Gulf of Oman on Wednesday, according to the US Navy. The incident follows the seizure of the Marshall Islands-flagged Advantage Sweet last week. Maritime security firm Ambrey believes the latter was in response to the US seizure of an oil cargo aboard the Marshall Islands tanker Suez Rajan. The Niovi was travelling from Dubai to Fujairah when it was forced to change course towards Iranian territorial waters.
