
Louisiana primaries paused as map ruling sparks legal fight amid ballots already cast
About 42,000 absentee ballots had been received before Gov. Landry halted the U.S. House primaries amid a Supreme Court ruling that the state’s map is unconstitutional; overall primary votes totaled over 104,000. Four lawsuits challenge the emergency declaration, and Republicans are moving to redraw the map, which could invalidate congressional ballots and push the primary to July 15 or a later date determined by the Legislature.
