Accumulating snow is expected in Northeast Ohio on Monday night into Tuesday morning, with areas north of Akron and east of Cleveland potentially seeing up to four inches of snow. The National Weather Service has issued a forecast indicating moderate to locally heavy accumulations are possible. Showers will transition to snow behind a cold front, with a chance of 1 to 3 inches of snowfall at the Akron-Canton Airport.
The forecast for Kansas City is calling for a snowstorm, but meteorologist Joe Lauria cautions against taking the models' predictions at face value. While some models are suggesting a significant snowfall of 4-7 inches, Lauria believes the actual accumulations will be much lower. He expects minor accumulations today, with the core of the snowfall occurring tonight, ranging from 1-2 inches on the southeast side of the metro area to 3-4 inches on the far northwest side. Temperatures will be cold, with highs in the 30s today and upper 30s tomorrow.
A winter storm warning and winter weather advisory will go into effect for portions of the Chicago area starting Saturday morning, bringing accumulating, wet snow and gusty winds to north suburban communities. Lake and McHenry counties will likely be among the hardest hit, with a winter system dumping up to 2 inches of snow per hour and accumulations possibly exceeding 9 inches when all is said and done. The snow won't stop immediately after the warnings expire, with Lake and McHenry counties likely to have seen somewhere between 5 and 9 inches of snow.
