West Bank school attack leaves 14-year-old dead as settler violence targets education
A 14-year-old Palestinian boy, Aws Al-Naasan, and a 32-year-old parent, Jihad Abu Naim, were killed when armed Israeli settlers opened fire at a school in Al-Mughayyir, in the West Bank, as attacks on Palestinian schools escalate; at least four others were injured. Separately, settlers bulldozed a nearby school in Hammamat al-Maleh and set up razor wire near Umm al-Khair to block students’ routes to school. The Israeli military said the incident is under review. Palestinians and activists describe a pattern of violence against education in the area, with authorities and rights groups warning of a systematic violation of children’s right to schooling.
