Pfizer's drug Lorbrena significantly extends the life expectancy of patients with ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer, a rare and particularly deadly form of the disease. New research shows that 60% of patients treated with Lorbrena were still alive after five years, compared to 8% of those treated with crizotinib. Lorbrena also effectively prevents brain metastasis, a common and severe complication of ALK-positive lung cancer.
