The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold offers a refined but incremental update, featuring a lighter body, brighter displays, and a new 48MP main camera. Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and Google's Pixel 11 Pro are mature flagship devices that refine rather than reinvent the category. The Pixel emphasizes on-device AI and faster night photography, while the iPhone leans into pro-level video tools and manual camera controls. Both offer bright OLED displays, two size options, and similar price ranges, with the Pixel typically cheaper at base whereas the iPhone can reach up to 2TB of storage. Overall, neither phone delivers a decisive reason to switch ecosystems, so the choice hinges on your existing Apple or Google devices and preferred camera/software experience.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max and Galaxy S26 Ultra are two 6.9-inch flagship phones with similar power and pricing, but they diverge in approach: Apple pursues ecosystem cohesion with a new 2‑nm A20 Pro chip and a mechanically variable-aperture main camera, while Samsung emphasizes versatility with a 200‑MP main sensor, dual telephotos, S Pen support, and 8K video; both offer ~5,000 mAh batteries, 120Hz displays, and fast charging, while weight, design, and feature priorities (Pen vs Pencil, zoom, etc.) will steer buyers toward iOS or Android.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max introduces a major redesign with a durable aluminum unibody and a 6.9-inch display, but offers modest camera upgrades, while the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra boasts a versatile five-camera system, stylus support, and a more compact, lighter design, making it a highly feature-rich flagship on Android. The choice depends on user preference for iOS or Android, with each device excelling in different areas.
Apple executives have provided insights into the camera systems of the upcoming iPhone 15 and 15 Pro models. The executives emphasized that the camera systems cater to a wide range of users, from parents capturing their children's milestones to professionals with specific artistic visions. They also explained the limitations of certain focal lengths in video mode due to computational photography capabilities. Additionally, they highlighted the introduction of ProRes Log encoding and external SSD support for video shooters.
Nonprofit Streets Are For Everyone is pushing for Assembly Bill 645, which would create a pilot program for installing speed safety systems using cameras to photograph speeding and other unsafe driving behavior to curb the recent uptick in street takeovers in South Los Angeles. The program would be limited, with cities over 3 million in population allowed to install up to 125 systems, while cities between 800,000 and 3 million can only install 33 systems. Los Angeles city and school officials have also planned to install speed humps around schools after recent pedestrian accidents.
