Footage reveals Iran's assault on Camp Buehring and the U.S. retreat from Kuwait
CBS News obtained exclusive footage showing Iranian missiles, drones, and F-5 jets striking Camp Buehring in Kuwait during the early stages of the Iran war. The attack forced the evacuation of over 90% of the 7,000 troops stationed there, leaving behind a small garrison that faced severe ammunition shortages. While no service members were killed by enemy fire, two were injured by lightning in the desert, and the base was ultimately abandoned. The incident highlights the strain on U.S. forces and raises questions about the long-term viability of American bases in the region.
