Berkshire Bets $10 Billion More on Alphabet, Signals AI Focus
Berkshire Hathaway agreed to purchase $10 billion of Alphabet stock in a private placement—$5 billion of Class A shares and $5 billion of Class C shares—adding to a stake built over the past three quarters. The deal underscores Berkshire’s growing conviction in Alphabet’s centrality to AI across search, cloud, and infrastructure and signals a broader capital-allocation push from Greg Abel as Berkshire, with nearly $400 billion in cash, seeks large, strategic investments. Alphabet plans to use the proceeds from its up-to-$80 billion stock sale to fund AI compute infrastructure and other investments.
