Minnesota arrests ICE officer after Texas extradition battle over Minneapolis shooting
Minnesota authorities arrested U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer Christian Castro in Minneapolis after an extradition fight with Texas over his shooting case; Castro is accused of injuring a Venezuelan man by firing through a closed Minneapolis door, and of lying about the incident. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott had challenged Castro's extradition, arguing he was not a fugitive; a federal judge sided with Abbott and Minnesota's bid to force handover faltered, though Castro had been released from a Cameron County jail in August. Castro now faces state assault and falsely reporting charges and federal charges for lying to investigators, with a Minnesota federal court appearance upcoming.
