Fox bets on distribution power with $22B Roku deal
Fox plans to acquire Roku for $22 billion, signaling a shift from a pure free-to-watch strategy to a distribution-and-ads-focused approach. The deal would give Fox control of Roku’s top digital TV OS and The Roku Channel, expand Fox’s reach to roughly 100 million households, and create a large digital ads network, with financing via cash and stock and execution risks including stock dilution and managing a hardware business.
