
Berkshire Expands Alphabet Stake, Bets on Delta and Homebuilders
Berkshire Hathaway more than doubled down on Alphabet, holding about 106 million Alphabet shares worth $37.9 billion at end-June after an 83% quarterly gain aided by a $10 billion private placement, making Alphabet Berkshire's third-largest U.S.-listed stake behind Apple and American Express. Berkshire also expanded its Delta position to 57.3 million shares (~$5.4 billion) and increased exposure to housing—Lennar rose to 13.1 million Class A and Berkshire took a small 3,600-share position in D.R. Horton—ending a long streak of net stock sales with roughly $20 billion in net purchases in Q2 as cash eased to $365.5 billion; the Taylor Morrison acquisition was completed.
