Microsoft’s Windows 11 Insider preview adds greater control over updates: you can skip updates during the out-of-box experience, install the OS first and apply updates later, pause updates for up to 35 days with the option to re-pause indefinitely, and keep normal shutdown/restart options even when updates are staged. The company also promises more transparency regarding driver updates.
AMD reportedly halted driver updates for the Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU used in handhelds like Lenovo Legion Go and ROG Ally, leaving devices on older drivers after about two and a half years. AMD is working on identifying affected users and reversing their bans, while players can disable the feature by pressing Alt+L.
