New Stockholm3 Test Signals Aggressive Prostate Cancer Earlier Than PSA
A large Swedish study found the Stockholm3 blood test detects 90% of aggressive prostate cancers over two years, outperforming the PSA test (74%) and potentially reducing unnecessary MRIs and biopsies. Stockholm3 is investigational and not yet US-approved; researchers plan FDA submission to pursue routine screening, with biopsy still required to confirm cancer. The study followed 12,000 men (mostly Swedish/European), with 443 aggressive cancers diagnosed in follow-up.
