RNAPII required for enhancer-promoter contact formation and loop extrusion antagonism.
A new study has found that the formation of enhancer-promoter contacts in chromatin organization requires RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) and antagonizes loop extrusion, a process that has been proposed to drive chromatin organization. The study also suggests that the Mediator-cohesin axis controls heterochromatin domain formation.
